VISITING THE LIBRARY
when does the library open and close?
We open at 8am and close at 4pm each day.
can i come to the library during my lunch breaks?
We are open both Middle School and Upper/Senior School Lunch 1 and Lunch 2 except if the Library is being used for classes.
If we are closed, there will be a sign on the door.

The Library is open until 4pm each day so makes a great place to wait for parents, particularly on hot or rainy days.
After school you can complete homework, read, sit with friends or even play a game (not on Homework Club days). We only ask that you consider the needs of everyone around you, especially in regards to noise.

can i eat in the library?
No. To make sure the environment is clean and tidy for everyone, any food will need to be eaten before coming into the Library. This includes lollies.
can i drink in the library?
The only drink you can bring into the Library is water. This is to make sure the environment in clean and tidy for everyone.
USING THE LIBRARY
How is the library organised?
We have Fiction and Non-fiction sections.
Fiction simply means made up or not true while non-fiction contains real facts and information.
FICTION
Our Fiction section is organised according to genre. Genre means the type of story or category of the book. We use stickers to show the type of story it is.
NON-FICTION
Our non-fiction books are organised using the Dewey Decimal System. Each number means something in the system.

BORROWING
HOW MANY BOOKS CAN I BORROW?
You can borrow up to 4 books at one time.
how long can i borrow a book?
You can have a book for up to 2 weeks.
how do i know when my books is due back?
When you borrow a book we stamp the back of the book with the date the book is due back.
what if i don't finish a book within the time?
You can renew a book for another 2 weeks if you need it. You can either pop into the Library or email [email protected] to arrange an extension.
How many times can i renew a book?
There is no limit so you can renew a book as many times as you need unless it is needed by another person.
If you have had a book for a very long time and are stuggling to finish it, you may want to think about selecting another book you will enjoy more.

what happens if i don't return my books on time?
Once your book becomes overdue, you will start receiving email reminders from us. You will receive the following email reminders from us:
It is therefore really important that you check your school emails regularly.
If the book has not been returned or renewed after 2 weeks, your parents/carers will receive emails reminding them that the book needs to be returned or, if lost or damaged, the item paid for.
- 1 day overdue - 1st reminder
- 1 week overdue - 2nd reminder
- 2 weeks overdue - 3rd reminder
It is therefore really important that you check your school emails regularly.
If the book has not been returned or renewed after 2 weeks, your parents/carers will receive emails reminding them that the book needs to be returned or, if lost or damaged, the item paid for.

can i still borrow if i have an overdue book?
No. You need to return any overdue books before you will be allowed to borrow any more resources from the school.
the book i want is on loan to another student. can i reserve it?
Yes. Come into the Library and ask us to reserve it for you.
how will i know when my reserved book is available?
When the book is available you will receive an email from us so it is very important that you check your school email regularly.
the library doesn't have the book i want. Can i suggest you buy it?
Yes. We have a file at the main desk in the Library where you can suggest books for us to buy.
Each suggestion will be evaluated against criteria including:

what happens if i lose or damage a book?
We understand that things happen so it's important that you come and talk to us about the damaged or lost book as soon as possible. You will need to pay for the item so that we can re-order the book for others to enjoy.
Facilities & Services
is there a printer in the library?
Yes. The photocopiers in the small group area are also our printers.
The software to print should already be on your MacBook if you have enrolled it correctly on the network. You will also need your SmartRider to release the printing from the machine. If you have any issues with printing, please see the IT Department also located in the Library.

is there colour printing available?
No. There is no colour printing available at the school. If you need something printed in colour, you can try your local public library or OfficeWorks.
is there a scanner in the library?
Yes. Our photocopiers are also scanners but we also have an A4 scanner available that connects straight to your computer. Ask at the Library Desk if you need help with this.
Homework Club
what is homework club?
This is where different teachers are rostered on and you can receive help with your homework and assignments.
when is homework club?
Homework club is every Tuesday and Thursday from 3-4pm.
do i need to sign up for homework club?
No, you can just turn up on either a Tuesday or Thursday. Just make sure you sign in on the sheet that the Teachers pass around during the session.
